Preparing for Your Visit
The massage therapist does not diagnose illness, disease, or any other physical or mental disorder, and does not prescribe medical treatment nor pharmaceuticals.
Massage therapy is not a substitute for medical examinations and/or diagnosis and it is recommended that you see a physician for any physical ailment you might have.
Because a massage therapist must be aware of existing physical conditions, state all your known medical conditions and take it upon yourself to keep the massage therapist updated on your physical health.
From aches to zzz's
The Big Question these days is: "Why do you do massage therapy?" My answer is this: I am fascinated by the complex chemistry (physiology) and elegance of the anatomy (bones and muscles) of the human body. I feel I have a talent to help people feel better and move better with my knowledge. I listen to what my client wants and combine that with what I feel will be effective. A massage that can help you feel better & move better, or a massage that can decrease stress and enhance relaxation - that's how you get from aches to zzz's.
I do not consider myself "a healer." I am a highly skilled bodyworker who absolutely loves her work and knows her stuff. My practice is named Advanced Bodywork. The name was not chosen lightly - that is what I do!
Whether it's a deep tissue massage or an overall full-body massage that relaxes & integrates all the body parts, massage is a very powerful treatment.
For a deep tissue massage, myofascial release, trigger points, contract-relax & stretching are used to treat injuries and/or soft-tissue problems.

A full body, relaxing and balancing massage calls for a mix of different modalities - Swedish, Polarity, Shiatsu, Reflexology and Craniosacral.
People have aches for all kinds of reasons:
Nagging pains from old injuries
- • Computer work: sitting at a poorly designed workstation; slumping posture
- • Accidents: car, truck, bicycle, mountain bike, horse, motorcycle, skiing, etc
- • Standing
- • Driving
- • Lifting
- • Sleeping
Playing a musical instrument
- • Weekend fun - playing sports and/or yard work.
- • Muscle tension in the neck/shoulders from stress.
Therapeutic massage can help with all of these conditions -
